Gophers slide continues

The University of Minnesota men's basketball has made a habit of missing the NCAA Tournament and settling for an NIT bid. This year the Gophers might be lucky to even accomplish that feat. The Gophers dropped to 0-2 in Big Ten Conference play tonight with an 83-68 loss to Iowa at home. The Gophers are 8-6 overall and have yet to beat a team from a major Division I conference. Can you imagine what this team would be like without freshman phenom Kris Humphries.

Questions about Marino

Former Miami Dolphins quarterback Dan Marino will leave his post as a commentator on CBS' NFL pregame show and become General Manager of his former team. What I don't understand is why the national media is questioning this move when many former professional athletes have become general managers with no prior experience without a peep from the media.

Joe Dumars for example assumed the general manager role of the Detriot Pistons and nobody seemed to question that move. Larry Bird and Isiah Thomas have assumed similar positions. Why is Marino taking so much flack?

A Whale-n of a team
If you live in Minnesota and have not yet made a trip to Williams Arena to watch the University of Minnesota women's basketball team, you should act quickly. The lady Gophers are outdrawing the men as far as attendence and for good reason. Lindsay Whalen might be the best player in the country and is certainly in the top three along with Alana Beard of Duke and Diana Taurasi of Connecticut.
